Some like it hot.
As an Aries, red is my color.
These potassium ferricyanide crystals form a small needle-like crystal structure, with a highly saturated color that packs a punch. I love to grow these crystals in areas of the bone that imply gore and blood. Arranging them to grow in the mouth to simulate a conclusion to a hunt, or around the base of an antler to imply that it was ripped from the root prematurely.
Using this color feels like hinting at a narrative, this previously living thing is now preserved in a confusing state of mid action, but post decay.

Tiny but mighty.
This skull was one of the first times I had grown the red crystals. The growth in the mouth inspired me to explore growing the crystals in strategic ways for future pieces, like the mouth of a coyote skull.
Ornamental
Each year, I create a series of ornaments in each color of crystal. Some make it to the yearly yule tree, and some end up displayed in other areas of the home year-round. Some folks love to display these pieces in their home alters.
